COMPETITIVE WAVE OFFICIAL RULES (UPDATED 2/19/19)

Cost to Participate

The cost to participate in the competitive wave is as follows:

$43 + Ticketing Registration Fees for Pre-Sale (ends at 11:59 p.m. 12 weeks before the particular event date and is limited to the first 15 tickets available per competitive wave)

$49 - $53+ Ticketing Registration Fees for Early Bird (ends at 11:59 p.m. 5 weeks before the event and is limited to the first 50 tickets available per competitive wave)

$55 - $63 + Ticketing Registration Fees for Regular Price (ends at 6:00 p.m. the day before the event)

The maximum cost to participate in the competitive wave is $63 + Ticketing Registration Fees.

The cost to participate in the competitive wave is for your ability to compete against others, be chip-timed, determine the time in which you completed the wave, receive the competitive wave medal, and have unlimited re-runs with your parents or legal guardians in that day’s non-competitive waves.

The competitive wave will be held on Kids Obstacle Challenge courses, which will be set up in the cities and venues set forth on the Kids Obstacle Challenge website: www.kidsobstaclechallenge.com

The Competitive Wave is $7 more than Family Waves, plus Ticketing Registration Fees.

Top 3 Finishers

Top three boy finishers and top girl female finishers in each age division for each Competitive Wave will receive a unique race medal (in addition to the competitive wave medal given out to each competitor) and an award as outlined:

1st Place in Age Division: Gold Medal + Razor Product (Estimated Retail Value of $150)

2nd Place in Age Division: Silver Medal + Razor Product (Estimated Retail Value of $130)

3rd Place in Age Division: Bronze Medal + Razor Product (Estimated Retail Value of $90)

Start Times

8:30 a.m. Competitive Wave
-
If the 8:30 a.m. Competitive Wave sells out, and depending on the city and venue, Kids Obstacle Challenge may add a second competitive wave, which would start at 8:00 a.m.

Competitive Wave Rules
-
Kids will be grouped according to the age divisions above
-
The order of when the groups will start is determined by age (i.e., 14-16 year olds first, then 12-13 year olds, and then 10-11 year olds)
-
Top three boy finishers and top three girl finishers in each age division for each Competitive Wave who complete the entire course as laid out (no shortcuts) will receive a unique medal (in addition to the competitive wave medal given out to each competition) and an award from our sponsor, Razor

No parents or legal guardians on course (parents and legal guardians may watch from outside the course lines)

No helping from parents or legal guardians, volunteers, or staff
-
No skipping obstacles (all obstacles must be completed)
-
A trained volunteer or staff member will be present at each obstacle to ensure that each competitor completes each obstacle

Failure to complete an obstacle will result in disqualification

Any competitor who uses profanity towards or physical force against any other competitor or any volunteer or staff member will be disqualified
Award Information
Age divisions are determined based on your age on race day. All times are based on the official chip time. All obstacles must be completed to qualify for placing. You must be present at the ceremony following the Competitive Wave (location announced onsite) to receive your award. Winning times will be announced at the award ceremony and posted at the Information Tent in the Festival Area.

In the event of a tie

Ties are broken as follows:
-
The individuals who tied will each line up at the start of the Clif Climb obstacle. The first one to complete the obstacle and run past the trained staff member who is administering the tie-breaker wins.

Eligibility
-
Neither the competitor, nor any members of their immediate family, nor anyone living in their household, may be an employee, officer, director, member, or agent of Kids Obstacle Challenge or its affiliates.
Dissemination of rules

The Competitive Wave Official Rules will be posted on kidsobstaclechallenge.com under Competitive Wave Official Rules

The Competitive Wave Official Rules will be sent in competitive wave confirmation emails

The Competitive Wave Official Rules will be verbally reinforced prior to race

Disputes
-
Placing disputes can be brought to staff’s attention after Competitive Wave has ended
-
Disqualification of competitor and competitor’s placement and removal from the event will result if that competitor, or that competitor’s parent or legal guardian, uses profanity towards or physical force against any other competitor or any Kids Obstacle Challenge volunteer or staff member

The acting Kids Obstacle Challenge Event Director will objectively decide all placing disputes, and the Event Director’s decision will be final
